About Alison Keery
Alison Keery is a Haida Gwaii-based dance performer and educator with a BFA Dance Honours Degree from York University with a focus in performance and choreography and a specialization in dance science. Keery has performed across Canada including NextFest Dusk Dances, Nuit Blanche Toronto and Alberta Dance Festival. She co-founded Lila Ensemble with whom she toured Europe in 2013. Keery taught Dance Anatomy at George Brown College in Toronto and she has taught dance to a wide variety of students from children taking classes for recreational fun, to dancers who are now performing with professional dance companies across Canada and the US. She is a trained Music Together, Mama Dances and Dancing for Birth instructor and has her certification in Movement Speaks, a dance program for seniors. Alison can teach humans about the joy of movement from zygote until their twilight years. Alison’s philosophy in education is deeply rooted in the sense that we are all born capable of moving or as she likes to tell her students “every body dances”.
